Facilitating Forest School and Outdoor Learning for your School

Since 2012, our Outreach team have been busy running Forest School sessions within Devon schools. Accommodating one-off sessions in our woodland sites, or bringing forest school to your own setting with year-round provision, we can create a package to suit your needs. We also offer small group sessions focussing on targeted learners and children who may need a little respite from the demand of the classroom.

What Schools Are Saying

As a school we eagerly embarked on our Forest School journey under the excellent guidance and support of Melinda three years ago

We ensure that every year group gets to experience all that the well-tailored sessions have to offer. Melinda liaises closely with the teaching staff to ensure that the activities planned meet the needs of each unique class and if she can in any way link the activities to their current topic. The children are always excited when it’s their turn and we love the continuity from repeating our annual programme. This means that all the children get to develop their skills and learn new ones to add to their life skills repertoire. The block sessions that culminate in the whole day trip are a fantastic way of developing our children to be resilient, to take risks, to work as a team and to most of all go out of their comfort zone. Our Year 6 children regularly mention their memories of forest school during their leaver’s speeches.

Clyst St Mary Primary

The Exeter Outdoors (now TOG) staff were superb – incredibly knowledgeable, very approachable, and able to strike up a rapport with my group instantly

The other immediately obvious characteristic about the Exeter Outdoors (now TOG) staff was their passion for the outdoors, together with their desire to share this passion through passing on their knowledge and skills.

Forest School Playgroup in Action

Our children are loving Exmouth Forest School, so much so that we have signed up for the whole year!

We have a very productive, active and fun afternoon session on a weekly basis. The children are encouraged to explore the woodland and they cooperate with each other to complete various activities and challenges.

Littleham Primary School

The team at Exeter Outdoors (now The Outdoors Group) have played a crucial part in the development of outdoor learning at Blundell’s Prep

Their support and guidance has enabled us to create an exciting programme for our children to fully explore the outdoors, and they have also been on hand to offer insight and training for all of our staff. In short, they have been fantastic!

Group Sessions

We wanted to say a massive thank you for our fantastic trip

The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves outside in the fresh air, gaining confidence and getting dirty! The activities that you delivered were pitched to their level and we saw some different sides to some children that we would never have seen in the classroom which was great to spot. Our children bloomed in the outdoors environment.
