The T.R.E.E.S. School Programme brings environmental education to primary schools across Devon offering a Tree Planting Day with lessons plans, activities and resources. Our aim is to get every primary school child to plant a tree!
We have designed lessons plans, activities and tree planting days to get children talking the talk and walking the walk. Not only should students learn about climate change and its effects, they should also be given the tools to take action and improve the environment around them in a way that’s fun and easy to understand.
Our unique tools complement the curriculum to ensure that students are having fun whilst learning as well as making it easier for teachers to plan. The highlight of our programme, our tree planting days, provide a practical, fun, engaging, and educational experience.
We are stewards of this planet for future generations to enjoy.
Our children will inherit this planet, so we have to make sure that we are leaving them with a liveable and sustainable environment. Planting trees is one way that we can protect the environment, get cleaner and fresher air, and make our surroundings pleasing to the eye. Educating children about the importance of planting trees wherever possible is our responsibility, so they grow up knowing what they have to do to leave a clean planet for their future children.
We are preparing for the project pilot now and looking for Pioneer Schools to take part. Initial site visits for Pioneer Schools will take place in June / July 2021 with pilot planting days taking place in October/November 2020. The main programme will be launched officially in 2022 (exact date dependent on pilot) and opened up to all Devon schools to apply.
As a Pioneer School you will agree to take part in our project pilot in 2021, completely free of charge!
Not only is this a great opportunity for you to provide a fun and engaging educational day but you can help shape the programme to ensure its future success for your teachers and pupils and those across Devon schools.
Your feedback and support as a Pioneer School is highly valued and we invite you to inform, by participation, how best to meet the needs of schools.
We recognise that you have many priorities and commitments and we aim to make the feedback and consultation as easy as possible throughout the process with simple short pulse surveys for you to complete online along the way, helping us to shape the project and resources. If you have the time and would like to get more involved and become a pioneer for the project then let us know! As a pioneer school you will also be featured on our website and will be given priority for booking a tree planting day every year.
