The ‘greenwood culture’ has been on the rise over recent times as people seek mindful respite from the growing pace of modern of life.
Whether you’re seeking a new hobby, or have always fancied spooning in the woods, this is an opportunity not to let slip. Our carving workshop will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to use some of the most basic yet versatile tools to create a spoon from fresh wood.
Our Forest School Manager Nick Murphy, has been carving spoons relentlessly since 2014 and has developed his own style and approach to the craft. He has risen to being one of the masters of his craft, internationally renowned for his beautiful work. To see what he’s been making recently, head on over to instagram.com/murphys_spoon or to read an interview about his craft, pop over to our blog post here!
The workshop takes place at Exmouth Forest School, under the cover of the canopy, and appropriate clothing will be required.
All tools and materials will be provided, along with all the tea, coffee and all the biscuits required to sustain a spoon trance, plus a hot-dog lunch cooked over the campfire (veggie sausages available).
Please note this workshop is for over 18’s only and participants must be fit and able to wield an axe for a while…it can be hard work.
