Spoon Carving Workshop

Our Spoon Carving Workshop will cater to both novice and experienced spoon carvers in our beautiful woods at Exmouth. Master Craftsman, Nick Murphy will cater the day to support beginners with an introduction to carving as well as helping those already carving spoons who want to hone their techniques and learn advanced skills.
The greenwood culture has been on the rise in recent years, as people seek mindful respite from the pace of modern life. If you are looking for a new hobby or to get some tips on how to start your spooning journey, or have been carving spoons for a while and would like to take them to the next level, this workshop is for you. The workshop will cover aspects of spoon carving such as sourcing materials, tools, knife grips and how to carve a basic spoon and for those who have been carving for a while, we will also look as aspects such as raw materials, knife grips and advanced carving techniques.

You will have plenty of time throughout the day to create your own spoon under the guidance of our trainer, Nick Murphy, who has been relentlessly carving spoons since 2014. Nick’s style and approach have meant that he is internationally renowned for his craft. To see his recent spoons head over to Murphy’s Spoon on Instagram here or read an interview with him on our blog here.

What others had to say...

“What a fantastic course you have put together!
The experienced instructor Nick Murphy was absolutely superb, such in depth knowledge of the subject of green wood working and spoonery. It’s a real pleasure to be around someone who has such passion and desire to pass on his skills and knowledge in this discipline. The setting was great and I felt everyone who attended was extremely happy and engaged in the course. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for such a good value for money course.”
