Green woodworking has, over recent years, seen a rise in talented and creative women carving to an exceptional level, changing the face of the traditionally male-dominated field. To acknowledge International Women’s Day, Annie and Tally are creating a supportive environment for those who identify as women and non binary folk who want to try their hand at woodworking but aren’t sure where to begin. Jojo Wood describes how “technique wins over physical strength every time” and we focus on teaching the basic skills of spoon carving, alongside raising an awareness of crafting for wellbeing.
10% of the profits from this workshop will be donated to Safe Services, an Exeter based domestic abuse charity who support families. Please note that this workshop is for over 18’s only and participants must be fit and able to wield an axe, wood carving can be hard work.
All tools and materials will be provided, including hot drinks, biscuits and a hot-dog (or veggie sausage) lunch cooked over the campfire.
