Shevek is one of our founders and has been working in the outdoor education sector for many years as an instructor and team leader. He has been running residentials, day courses, accredited courses and expeditions for several years.
Tom is one of our founders. He studied FDg Environmental Education and since then has worked in land based industries promoting sustainable land management and conservation in both farming and forestry.
From our very first open day in 2011, Arwen has been involved with us. After 18 years working for Devon County Council, she took the plunge and joined The Outdoors Group. Arwen is a qualified practitioner so you might meet her leading Birthday Parties at our Exeter site. She is also company secretary and keeps everything running smoothly.
Nick is the Manager and Practitioner at Exmouth Forest School. Also known for his excellent ukulele and spoon carving skills, Nick works hard to bring magic into the forest for children and parents, encouraging them to get involved in activities and inspiring them to use their imaginations.
Robyn’s role at the school is to look after our learners’ individual requirements and their pastoral welfare. She has been an English teacher for over 20 years and has worked in Special Schools for the last 11.
She loves anything to do with music, dancing and singing and reads a lot and love to cook. Robyn has assumed acting principal position during the recruitment process for a replacement.
Amanda has been working in the education system for about ten years both in America and England as well as directing outdoor adventure activities at summer camps in America. She enjoys bringing her passion for supporting diverse learners to the outdoors. In her free time she enjoys rock climbing and walking her dog in the countryside.
Chris is one of our founders and leads the activities and courses at Exeter Forest School. He has initiated and led courses for most age groups and also runs team building sessions. Chris has previously worked in nurseries and schools.
Over the years, Debbie’s been a Brownie Guide Leader, a play leader at local toddler groups and a governor of the local primary. She worked as a childminder for more than 22 years in Okehampton. Debbie’s currently doing her Forest School Leadership Training and it’s wonderful having her on board, looking after our newest site.
Fabrianne, joined the team after falling in love with the Forest School way of life when her little one attended Kindergarten. She started by volunteering with us before going on to do her Level 3 Forest School Leader training and Early Years Educator level 3. Fabrianne is passionate about supporting strong attachments, building confidence and self-esteem in the Kindergarteners. Her sunny disposition always brings a smile to our faces.
Annie completed her Forest School Leader training with us back in 2017 and has worked with us ever since. Annie’s background in Primary education and Psychology gives her a unique take on the training courses she runs. Annie is an enthusiastic team member who believes passionately in outdoor education and experience for all.
Katie has a background in both corporate and SME marketing and events and has worked in Australia, Dubai and Singapore.At the weekends she enjoys spending time with her Daughter and cockerpoo, Pip and loves being at the beach, walking the dog, cooking and drinking red wine! Katie works part time for The Outdoors Group and is also a qualified Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher. You will also see Katie running the Team Building activities and Outdoor Experience Days.
Hannah is usually found at a desk as The Outdoors Group Admin Assistant but has recently trained as a Forest School Leader. Hannah has been bringing her children to Home Ed Groups for years and now helps to run the sessions at Exeter Forest School.
Flo is a qualified Early Years Teacher and worked in the Early Years and Childcare sector managing nurseries and pre-schools for over 10 years before moving into lecturing in the further and higher education sectors, delivering training and degree programmes to Early Years Practitioners and trainee Early Years Teachers. Flo is passionate about the outdoors and outdoor learning and can often be found adventuring on a hilltop, beach or in the forest with her young son.
Karen has over 20 years experience working in various Devon Schools. If you have any questions or queries relating to School, please get in touch and she will do my best to help. She enjoys cooking, including baking, walking, visiting friends and spending time with family.
Rachel supports the day-to-day running and administration of The Outdoors Group’s activities. She is an outdoors and nature enthusiast with a degree in Animal Behaviour and Ecology and Conservation. She has previously worked for the Woodland Trust supporting their team of volunteers, and in the Fundraising team for the organic food and farming charity, the Soil Association. Rachel enjoys getting outdoors – hiking/running/cycling etc, and going on adventures.
