Having appropriate First Aid qualifications is strongly recommended for those wishing to run Forest School sessions at their own site.
Forest School First Aid training covers practical skills needed by those who work with children, providing the confidence and knowledge to deal with comprehensive life-saving first aid emergencies in the outdoor environment, including first aid for adult helpers. The complementary Paediatric First Aid qualification satisfies Early Years Foundation Stage practice guidance and statutory guidelines.
The Outdoors Group is delighted to now offer a 2 day, fully accredited, first aid course that gives you two qualifications:
This is available in conjunction with our Forest School Leader Training (although it’s a separate course) or as a standalone booking. Our staff are friendly and experienced forest school leaders and are always on hand to help.
The course runs over 2 days. Each day runs from 9am – 6pm
Course Cost: £200
Roles & responsibilities
Adult/child/infant specific treatments
Dealing with collapse (with and without breathing)
Choking
Bleeding
Shock
Major illnesses
Torso and limb injuries
Environmental effects
Heat and cold injuries
Using first aid kit
Outdoor specific scenarios
Outdoor incident management and looking after a casualty for more than 10 minutes.
Anyone running or assisting Forest School or outdoor education sessions
To have the appropriate First Aid knowledge when running or assisting Forest School or outdoor education sessions. Most insurers with require this if you are running sessions at your own site.
There are no entry requirements for these First Aid qualifications.
Please be aware that this is an active course, which will involve taking part in mock real life scenarios that need first aid and being outside. As such, please make sure that you are wearing suitable clothing.
