Behaviour Support Consultancy

Providing support and advice for students with ASD and SEMH needs

Supporting students with ASD and SEMH needs can be a real challenge. Not only are teachers not trained mental health practitioners, access to the kinds of support some students need is restricted both by overwhelming demand and funding cuts. Higher tier services have had to raise the severity of cases to be accepted in order to prioritise those with the highest level of need. This leaves a large section of the school population with serious (but less severe) mental health issues that struggle to get the support that is needed.

Schools are required to demonstrate evidence of a graduated response to meeting children and young people’s SEMH needs. This ranges from high quality teaching within the classroom to targeted individualised intervention for pupils with more complex needs.

Key consultation services and areas covered are;

  • Designing Outdoor Areas and/or Interventions for SEN.
  • Developing Safe Places (inside or outside) for Self-Regulation
  • Bespoke Mentoring resources for students on how the brain works, being different, being in the right place to learn or coping with anxiety.
  • Pathological Demand Avoidance; advice, strategies, and case-studies.
  • Capturing Progress; using Thought books & the Progression Framework for Inventions & Mentoring.
  • Collaborative creative problem solving

Prices are approx. £150 for a block of 2 hours. No formal diagnosis or referral is required and we offer a free meet and greet session to explore how we can help.
