Behavior Support for Schools

Supporting students with ASD and SEMH needs can be a real challenge. Not only are teachers not trained mental health practitioners, access to the kinds of support some students need is restricted both by overwhelming demand and funding cuts. Higher tier services have had to raise the severity of cases to be accepted in order to prioritise those with the highest level of need. This leaves a large section of the school population with serious (but less severe) mental health issues that struggle to get the support that is needed.

Schools are required to demonstrate evidence of a graduated response to meeting children and young people’s SEMH needs. This ranges from high quality teaching within the classroom to targeted individualised intervention for pupils with more complex needs.

The Outdoors Group offer various options from consultancy, CPD workshops and intervention services for children with ASD and SEMH.

Free Initial Meet & Greet

To raise awareness of what we can offer, schools can book a free “meet and greet” session. We recommend that you have an informal chat so that we can establish the type of need and provide recommendations. This will be a 1-hour session and gives you the chance to find out about the variety of Outdoor Learning services and packages that we have available for schools.
